3:39p from the department of details nobody will ever notice:
decided to put the coin of Claudius into the game (which is no game)

i was gonna go for Julian the Apostate, seeing as how he was the last polytheist Roman Emperor and all. but i couldn't find a pretty enough one, and really by then the Empire wasn't the Empire anymore. So... gotta go with my sentimentality on this one. Claudius was caught between a curtain and the Praetorian guard. Handicapped and not into the imperator thing at all. And what he probably feared most came to pass. he was the adoptive Father of Nero... i thought about a Nero coin... but nah, too obvious. (ditto Caligula, Augustus or Constantine.) or Galba, just to be intentionally obsure. yaya like i said, nerdy hobbies.

we watched Anti-Christ and it's not that I didn't love it on the contrary I did love how Von Trier was able to reach a level of emotional complexity rarely seen in contemporary film. The acting superb The cinematogaphy will have me watching the film again, looking for insights. BUT my feeling about him as a director stands. He messes up his movies with his incessant need to fuck with the audience. To emotionally control the experince. He micromanages your experience as a viewer. He's not happy until he has you pinned to the ground just as unhappy as whatever poor actress hes putting through the performace of her life. it's not his subject matter that is disgusting but his burning sadistic streak, to which you must submit, in order to experience his creations. Put short. Lars Von Trier annoys me as a director because I know what he's up to. And I don't like it. other than the last twenty or so minutes, brilliant film.

i think i've had enough of this week. bring on the next one!
7 days of no internet made me feel all itchy. i spent a lot of time at the Vooruit Cafe less than a block away. it was too noisy and lots of people smoking (not that i minded either of those things.) a different vibe was interesting. damn good coffee!
but yeah. the net was broken because the cable leading into our house was broken or wrong or some such thing and it took them a long time searching that out. anyway, its the past. its almost like it never happened.
meanwhile, things were very productive work-wise. our first iphone game (which is not a game) will be done before the new year. i really really enjoy the work. don't mean to whine like i sometimes do.
i can now name from memory all the Roman Emperors (3rd century crisis notwithstanding,) in order, up to Constantine I. And there I stop. (yes, I have some very nerdy hobbies.)
MY MOTHER IS COMING TO VISIT ME FOR XMAS! XD and that fact makes me very happy indeed.
done a lot of sketching the last few days. lack of internet? i am surrounded by books, and i like it.
thoughts knotted up in my brain. need a hot bath, a glass of cold vodka and some sweet lovin'. maybe a movie. (not necessarily in that order.) friday night, e8z! style.
